GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS

1. Description:


The patching material shall be composed of a suitable aggregate, plant-mixed with WESPRO Special Liquid Blend, from WESPRO Asphalt Products, Inc. The bituminous material shall be capable of coating approved aggregates without stripping, and shall be available in various grades to meet existing conditions. The material will be packaged in plastic bags, plastic five gallon pails, or in bulk. The patching product shall be capable of maintaining adhesive qualities in patched areas which are damp or wet at the time of application.

 

2. Materials:

Aggregate will consist of Limestone or approved equal, and comply with Gradation of Extracted Aggregate Results according to ASTM C136. Typically as follows:

Bituminous Material shall be WESPRO Special Liquid Blend, from Wespro Asphalt Products, Inc. It shall meet the requirements of ASTM D2026 modified as follows:

In distillation of recovered asphalt, there shall be no distillate up to 600 F and only 0.5% distillate to 680 F.

 

3. Composition of Mixture:

The mixture shall consist of an aggregate conforming to Section 2(a), and a bituminous material conforming to Section 2(b) mixed in such a manner as to contain approximately 120 lbs. of bituminous material per finished ton (6.0%).

4. Stripping Test:


Immediately after mixing, the mixture shall meet the requirements of ASTM 1664, whereby not more than 5% of the aggregate particles shall remain uncoated.

 

5. Storing or Stockpiling:


Immediately following the production of the WESPRO product the material should be allowed to cool down to ambient temperature before loading out or placement in repair areas. The stockpile can be however large you decide is best for space requirement. Also, in case of inclement weather, such as rain, during the period while material is still above ambient temperature it would be best to cover material to ensure stripping does not take place.

It is normal for a crust to form on the exterior of the stockpile due to the product characteristics, but the interior will remain pliable and ready to use along with the crust when blade mixed together.

 

6. Handling Precautions:


In handling of WESPRO Asphalt Patching Material normal industry-wide safety precautions such as the prevention of cigarette smoking, and any other form of ignition or combustion, should be strictly adhered to
